Progress Update: Venson Senior Lofts

1

Construction continues to move forward at Venson Senior Lofts, where a historic elementary school in Pittsburgh’s Beltzhoover neighborhood is being thoughtfully transformed into 39 units of affordable senior housing, along with a new addition designed to complement the original structure.

Once a cornerstone of the community for generations of families, the building sat vacant for nearly two decades after closing in 2004. Today, it is steadily coming back to life as work progresses across several key areas of the project.

Current Construction Progress

The project team has reached several important milestones in recent weeks:

  • Framing is now complete, establishing the structural layout for the new residential units.

  • Masonry work is underway, helping restore and reinforce the historic building envelope.

  • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) rough-ins are nearing completion, preparing the building for the next phase of interior work.

  • Drywall installation will begin soon, marking a major step toward finishing interior spaces.

  • Site work will also begin shortly, including sidewalks and other improvements that will help connect the development with the surrounding neighborhood.

With these phases moving forward, the project is entering an exciting stage where the transformation of the former school into modern housing becomes increasingly visible.

Preserving History While Creating New Opportunity

The redevelopment of Venson Senior Lofts represents more than a construction project, it is an opportunity to preserve an important community landmark while addressing the growing need for quality, affordable housing for seniors.

Mistick Construction is proud to partner with TREK Development and UpStreet Architects to help bring new life to this historic building and provide a welcoming place for residents to call home.

Stay tuned for additional updates as construction continues.
