When the
nursing home administered by the Felician Sisters wanted to add
44 assisted living units, the Sisters turned to the contractor
most experienced working at fully occupied elder care facilities.
Mistick
Construction responded with construction of a threestory addition
that focused on resident safety and thorough communications among
site administrators, the project architect, and the construction
staff.
In addition
to constructing 44 units and new common areas, the $3.5 million
project included relocating and expanding the entire front entrance.
Other challenges included devising a solution to access the tight
site through a neighboring parking lot. Careful construction phasing
and management minimized disruption for residents during all phases
of the project.
"St.
Anne Home has a tradition of providing care and companionship
for residents in a Christian environment," says Administrator
Sister Bernice Marie Fiedor. "When we planned to add Villa
Angela, our assisted living community, it was important to everyone
involved that the quality of workmanship reflect our ministry.
We were pleased with personal attention and commitment to safety
shown by the Mistick staff during both the planning phase and
construction."
Based on
the project's success, Mistick Construction has been invited back
to do further work at the site and at the Sister's Provincial
House in Coraopolis, PA.
