In the 1960's
the Aerial Map Building housed state-of-the-art cartography equipment.
Today the building houses sophisticated medical equipment for
diagnosing and treating patients with back pain.
A consortium
of doctors knew that the North Side building, though vacant for
years, offered open spaces and a prime location near Allegheny
General Hospital and I-279.
Mistick
Construction provided the value engineering, project management
and construction services needed to transform the 25,000 square
foot building into a premiere medical office building.
Working
in a densely populated urban area presented special construction
challenges. The setting also required that core building functions,
including the elevators, stair towers and restrooms be located
in the adjacent new construction in order to create the most effective
use of available space.
A mobile
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, facility is located next to
the building and docked to the stairwell through an air lock system.
The building’s
penthouse level features multiple peaks to reflect the architecture
of the surrounding structures.
